In November 2011, during the UNESCO General Conference, the international community proclaimed April 30 as “International Jazz Day.” This International Day will bring together communities, schools, artists, historians, academics, and jazz enthusiasts all over the world to celebrate and learn about the art of jazz, its roots, its future and its impact. This important international art form will be celebrated for promoting peace, dialogue among cultures, diversity, and respect for human rights and human dignity, eradicating discrimination, promoting freedom of expression, fostering gender equality, and reinforcing the role of youth for social change. Take some risks
Take some risks! Quit thinking that safe is always good. Even when planning for the future, you're tossing in far too many "what ifs" and therein lies the difficulty of moving ahead. So, what if you fail......at least you've tried. Failure is subjective; sometimes failure is simply viewed as a few errors along the way. This is to be expected when fine-tuning is involved. Get out of your own way and take the chances that may very well make a difference, not only in your life, but in the life of many others. So, go ahead....trip, fall, stumble, get up, brush yourself off and keep it moving. Remember.....even when you ask questions....."NO" is still an answer that allows you to move to your next level. - Happy Journeying!

There and Here
Has it occurred to you that your answers lie in your questions
Your solutions in your problems?
The quench becomes the beauty of your thirst
The experience at the end of love becomes
the beauty of that same beginning.
Nothing is ever apart from the whole
Every piece is a part of the puzzle
an experience of each struggle
a testimony of the survival.
The answers are lifted, recognized, heard
when you've silenced your soul and
now see and hear the answers
that were....
Always there.....always here!

It's all about the Timing
Don't rush the right answer; the perfect answer. Just because things aren't falling into place the way that you've envisioned, doesn't mean that the answer isn't travelling in your direction.
Be still......listen to your spirit and accept /receive the perfect answer at the perfect time. Don't rush - Trust that everything will come at the perfect time and in the perfect way. Be attentive, so you don't miss the answer when it arrives. It might not be packaged the way that you envisioned it, but the content of the package is what's most vital!

Let your beauty abound!
You are adorned with kindness, brilliance and beauty! Allow your presence to add life to the dreary, lonely places that you encounter.
"Let there be nothing within thee that is not very beautiful and very gentle, and there will be nothing without thee that is not beautiful and softened by thy presence." - James Allen

Thoughts of You
The breeze from the flutter of a bird’s wings reminds me of you.
The sound of the chirps and the sunrise, casts thoughts of you.
The smell of fresh-cut grass and blackberries, yes you too.
Roses blooming and the aroma of honeysuckle….remembrances of you.
These thoughts don’t make me sad, they simply remind me
Of times gone by and laughter and love never to be forgotten.
I’m glad the roses still bloom and I can remember
I’m grateful that I still see the sunrise and hear the birds sing
I’m thankful for my memory and blessed by thoughts of You.

Continuing the fight for Trayvon
Certainly, by now, everyone has heard that George Zimmerman has been charged with 2nd degree murder of Trayvon Martin, as announced by the Special Prosecutor, Angela Corey. It has been 45 days since this young man's murder and it appears that a first base step has been taken in the right direction. Zimmerman is now arrested; he voluntarily surrendered and will face a judge for a bond hearing tomorrow. May the parents of Trayvon start to breathe a bit easier, simply because this is now the first step, with an arrest, that should've taken place on the day of this young man's murder. May justice be served and integrity be displayed during the discovery of this case and may all things be done decently and in order. I pray that this 'Stand your Ground' law is revisited, revised or altogether dismantled/dismissed, because it is simply a law that allows for vigilante behavior. May Justice eventually prevail!

Begin Again
It's a brand new day with each lovely sunrise; a chance to wipe the slate clean and start anew. Whatever didn't quite work out at the end of yesterday....here's a chance to try something new. Maybe you're working on a great new idea....continue that thought. Stay in motion and don't go back to what has not been working. Be sure that you recognize it as something that doesn't work as opposed to something that simply needs to be fine-tuned, adjusted, nurtured or reprogrammed. Wipe the slate clean.....give it another try......shift your perception.....redesign.......Start again!
